Smith’s 5 Goals Lead Lady Lyons Past Crittenden 10-2

Alice Smith had five goals and an assist while Anna White added three goals and an assist as the Lyon County Lady Lyons picked up a 5th District victory Monday night.

Lyon’s girls scored the final five goals of the night to finish off a 10-2 triumph over Crittenden County at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville.

Smith had a hat trick and White scored twice as Lyon (4-2 overall, 1-0 district) bolted out to a 5-0 lead just 23 minutes into the contest.

Crittenden (1-4, 0-1) gained some momentum on a pair of Ella Geary goals in the 25th and 29th minutes.

Geary got help from Adri Berry on the first goal. The second goal came on a long free kick as the Lady Rockets tried to get back in the contest.

However, Eden Jones got Lyon back on track in the 30th minute when she squeezed a shot between the goalkeeper and the near post to send Lyon to halftime with a 6-2 advantage.

The Lady Lyons dominated play for much of the second half, with Smith scoring two more goals and White adding one more.

Gracelynn Taylor made it 9-2 in the 64th minute.

Smith’s final goal of the night came on a blast from the top of the box following a corner kick to end the game early on the mercy rule.

Avery White had one assist for the Lady Lyons.

Smith now has 15 goals in six matches.

Lyon outshot Crittenden 34-14 in the contest.

Richmond Herring made five saves in the Lyon net.

Macibelle Hardesty had seven stops for Crittenden.

The Lady Lyons have another district match on Friday when they travel to Trigg County.

The Lady Rockets will host Caldwell County on Tuesday.
