Mark down the first win of the season for the Hopkinsville Lady Tiger volleyball team. The Lady Tigers opened fast and ran away to a straight-set win over the Trigg County Lady Wildcats Monday night in Tiger Gym.
Hopkinsville rolled through the opening set 25-9 to go up 1-0.
The Lady Wildcats battled back in the second set and pushed the Lady Tigers until late in the set. Hopkinsville would finally take a 25-20 win to take the match lead to 2-0.
Hopkinsville then closed out the match with a 25-16 in the third set to complete the sweep.
Madysen Taggart led the Hopkinsville attack at the net, finishing with three kills. She also had 4 digs and 6 aces. Kyleigh Weber aided the Hopkinsville cause with 2 assists and 2 service aces.
For Trigg County, Grace Carver had 4 kills and 1 block. Carmen Boyd added 4 kills, 2 aces,and 1 block. Sierra Williams finished the night with 5 assists.
With the win, Hopkinsville improves to 1-2 on the season. They head across town for a big district match Tuesday evening as they take on Heritage Christian.
Trigg County drops to 0-4. The Lady Wildcats go back out on the road Tuesday night to take on Crittenden County.
