On the softball field, Christian County’s Avery Adock is among the best players in the state. The Lady Colonel senior shortstop is an ace in the field and, at the plate, hits the ball with authority. If you have ever watched her play, you know that her athletic skills are top-level.
But, this young lady is more than just outstanding in terms of her abilities on the softball field. Avery is also knocking it out of the park in the classroom and is leading the way in terms of involvement in her school community. It is that, along with her exceptional athletic abilities, that have her as the latest Chick-fil-A ‘Triple A.’
Avery’s batting average in the classroom is out of the ballpark. She is currently ranked #1 in her senior class at Christian County High School and has a GPA of 4.3.
She has been involved in the Gifted and Talented program for her efforts in Leadership, English, and Mathematics.
Avery has passed multiple AP exams, including AP Human Geography, AP Psychology, AP US History, and AP World History.
She also has won the Student of the Month Award six times during her educational career at Christian County.
But it is not just in the classroom where Avery is ‘leading’ the way. She has served as Region 1 Vice President for the Future Business Leaders of America. FBLA is designed to inspire and prepare students to become community-minded business leaders through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. FBLA is the largest business Career and Technical Student Organization in the world.
About her time in FBLA, Avery says “FBLA is something I have been a part of every year of high school but just last year I became a part of our chapter leadership team and ultimately our Region 1 leadership council. Our chapter works with businesses in the community, volunteer organizers in town, and do our best to create the next generation of professionals coming out of Christian County. FBLA is something I spend most of my free time working on as well as my student council duties.”
And, yes, by the way, her classmates see and recognize her leadership skills, as she was selected to serve as president of her senior class. Avery has been a part of the school student council every year and she says it is something she takes a great deal of pride in. Avery adds “We spend a lot of time working behind the scenes to make things like pep rallies, homecomings, and rivalry games fun and more exciting for the student body. We also organize donation drives and community service efforts for local nonprofits. School spirit in general is something I am very passionate about and being able to exercise that passion through student council has been an amazing experience for me.”

Avery has also been involved in the National Honor Society at Christian County, serving as Vice President. The National Honor Society allows students to learn how to help within the community while also learning to be a leader in that community.
She has been involved as a member of Youth Leadership. To be in the Youth Leadership program you must be selected based on the application which asks you to name the organization you are associated with, GPA, and write an essay. Only 30 students from the high schools in Christian County are accepted into the program. In the program, students get to go throughout the community and learn about different aspects of it and learn how each part works together to benefit the entire community.
Not only will she get the chance to play softball in the SEC when she heads off to Missouri, Avery will get the chance to continue her education at one of the Midwest’s top universities. Avery notes “As for furthering my education at Mizzou I am incredibly excited to take those next steps. I was thoroughly impressed with not only their amazing athletic department but also the dedication the university has for preparing their pre-law and business students for their future careers. They have many opportunities there for students to get outside of the classroom and work with current professionals and learn from that.”
In regards to her future plans, “As for my interest in pre-law, it comes from me being a very passionate individual and skilled in social studies and English. As a pre-law student I would be preparing to go into business law which gives me the opportunity to work with and help a group without it necessarily being the traditional career people think of when they think of helping.”
“The same thing applies with my interest in finance. I have thoroughly enjoyed my accounting and business classes through high school, and after speaking with a private wealth manager at Baird Financial in town, I realized it was the perfect way for me to interact day to day with people, form those close connections, and, again, help people in a way that still allows me to explore my passions.”
Sounds like she knows exactly where she wants to go and what she needs to do to get there.
Outstanding athlete, great student, and exceptional young leader, all great reasons why Avery Adcock is another great Chick-fil-A ‘Triple A.”
