The Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons are hoping a tough regular season schedule pays dividends when the soccer postseason arrives. With a brutally tough schedule, you have to be prepared for some bumps in the road.

The Maroons made the trip to Louisville Saturday afternoon to take on unbeaten St. Xavier, who had shutout their three previous opponents. Make that number four now.

The Tigers got out to a 3-0 lead and then Mother Nature decided to play a part in the match. Early in the second half, with lightning in the area of the field, the decision was made to stop play. The match was far enough along to be considered an official match, giving the Tigers the win and moving their record to 6-0-1.

The loss was the second straight for the Maroons during a tough stretch on the schedule. Madisonville-North Hopkins dropped a 2-0 road decision at Central Hardin on Thursday. Last Saturday, the Maroons were blanked 2-0 by DeSales.

Madisonville-North Hopkins (6-3) is back in Louisville next Saturday for two more tough matches against Louisville Collegiate (5-0) and Kentucky Country Day (3-3-2).
