Braylon Elderbrooks’ third quarter touchdown run turned out to be the game-winner as the Todd County Central Rebels picked up its first win of the 2024 football season Friday night in Elkton. The Rebels rallied from 10 points down to take a 12-10 win over Ohio County.
The Eagles got on the board first when Luke Barton kicked a 26-yard field goal with 3:45 to go in the first quarter putting Ohio County up 3-0. The score was set up by a 50-yard pass from Ayden Farris to Luke Barton that moved the Eagles to the Rebels’ 3-yard line. The Todd defense then stood up and forced the field goal attempt.
The Eagles’ lead grew to 10-0 when Eli Warren scored on a 10-yard run with 7:30 to go in the half. But that would be the last time the Eagles got to put points on the board. The drive was set up by a Rebel fumble that gave Ohio County the ball at the Rebel 45.

The Rebels got a huge momentum play late in the half. Braylon Elderbrook hit Mar’Shawn Fletcher for a 12-yard touchdown with 3 seconds left in the half to cut the lead to 10-6 going into the break.
Elderbrook then put the Rebels on top in the third quarter on a touchdown run with 7:56 to go in the quarter. The two-point conversion failed and the Rebels had a 12-10 lead. Those would be the last points that either team scored for the night as the defenses locked things down.
For Todd County Central, Elderbrook was 4-9-1 for 44 yards and a touchdown through the air. Mar’Shawn Fletcher caught all four passes for the Rebels.

The Rebels rushing attack was led by Elderbrook, who had 19 carries for 65 yards and a score.
The penalty bug bit both teams hard. Todd County Central was penalized 13 times for 110 yards. The Eagles were flagged 9 times for 75 yards.
Todd County Central improves to 1-1 on the season with the win. The Rebels go on the road for the first time next Friday night when they travel to Dixon to take on the Webster County Trojans.
