
Ethan Fabian scored the go-ahead goal in the 48th minute as Hopkinsville defeated Caldwell County 5-3 in boys’ soccer action Tuesday at the Stadium of Champions.
With the game tied 3-3, Fabian got behind the Caldwell defense and scored from in close to give Hoptown the lead.
Anthony Evangelista added a late goal, scoring after the ball went off a defender in front of the net, to make it 5-3 and help put the contest away for Hopkinsville.
Erick Hernandez had a hat trick for Hoptown (3-7), which had to overcome an early 2-0 deficit.
Collin Turmero scored on a penalty kick, then had a crossing pass to Chase Lantrip, who finished in the net to put the visitors up 2-0.

The next three goals all belonged to Hernandez, though, as Hoptown went up 3-2.
Colson Mattocks tied things just before halftime, getting help from Turmero in the 39th minute to make it a 3-3 game.
But Hopkinsville tallied the only two goals of the second half.
Hoptown is now 33-1-3 all-time against Caldwell.
Hopkinsville had eight saves. Landon Beaulieu had six of those while Raul Rivera made two stops.
Grayson Harris had 16 saves for Caldwell.

Hopkinsville plays at home again on Thursday against Webster County.
Caldwell (1-6) will host Todd County Central on Thursday.
