As an underdog, if you get chances to take the lead on a favored team, you generally need to convert those opportunities. In their match at University Heights Academy, the Lyon County Lady Lyons had a couple of chances early on to take the lead on the Lady Blazers and could not get the ball to find the net.

The best of those chances came when Alice Smith found an opening and sent a rocket shot towards the goal. It deflected off the crossbar and with that deflection also went the Lady Lyons to set the Lady Blazers back on their heels.

UHA got two goals each from Kendall Hancock and Audrey Perry as the Lady Blazers picked up a 6-0 win over the Lady Lyons at Givens Field. The win was the fifth straight shutout for the Lady Blazers.

The match was tied 0-0 when the two teams took a water break halfway through the first 40 minutes. From there, it was all Lady Blazers.

Audrey Perry scored off an assist from Alyssa Grise at the 21:00 to give UHA a 1-0 lead. Six minutes later it was Kendall Hancock scoring off an assist from Skyler Cantrell to extend the lead to 2-0. That would also be the score at the break.

Just 15 seconds into the second half, Hancock found the net again to make it 3-0. At the 46:00, Skyler Cantrell picked up her second assist of the night on a goal from Gracie Ausenbaugh that pushed the lead out to 4-0.

Ajae Oatts and Audrey Perry would add second half goals to get to the final six goal margin.

Madison Williams had a big night in goal for the Lady Blazers finishing with five saves.

UHA improves to 6-0 with the win. The Lady Blazers have a couple of big matches Saturday, taking on Marshall County and Daviess County at Marshall County High School.

Lyon County falls to 5-4 with the loss. The Lady Lyons will be back on the road Tuesday when they take on the Crittenden County Lady Rockets.
