Caldwell County used a pair of late goals to rally for a 2-2 draw Thursday night against a Todd County Central that entered the match with a 6-1 record.

Down 2-0 with less than 10 minutes to play, the Tigers struck for goals in the 73rd and 74th minute.

That left Caldwell feeling like it had won the night while the late goals spoiled the Rebels’ visit to Butler Stadium in Princeton.

Todd Central (6-1-1) had the better scoring chances in the contest and outshot Caldwell 22-7.

Chris Salazar gave the Rebels a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute when a long free kick from near midfield got over Caldwell keeper Grayson Harris and just under the bar.

Todd Central then seemingly took control of the contest when Tanner Henderson ran on to a long ball from goalkeeper John Mark Campbell and beat the keeper to make it 2-0 in the 64th minute.

Caldwell (1-6-1) got 11 saves from Harris to stay in the game. Two other Rebel shots rang off the post to keep the visitors from leading by more than two goals.

The Tigers made things interesting in the 73rd minute when Collin Turmero put home a deflected shot by Sutton Ritchey.

Caldwell then struck again just a minute later. A long free kick from Ritchey found its way in front of the net, and Kale Turmero punched it home to knot the score at 2-2.

Todd Central just missed on a shot that sailed over the bar late as the teams ended the match deadlocked.

Campbell recorded five saves in the Todd net.

The all-time series remains tied as well, 5-5-2.
