Lady Falcons Fall to Crittenden in All A Regional Title Match

The Fort Campbell Lady Falcons were oh so close to making history Saturday. The Lady Falcons reached the championship match of the 2nd Region All A Classic volleyball tournament and were just one step away from the school’s first appearance in the All A Classic state tournament.

But, it would not be the day to make history for the Lady Falcons. Instead, it was the Crittenden County Lady Rockets who picked up their first-ever All A regional volleyball championship with a straight set win over the Lady Falcons.

Fort Campbell opened the championship match by taking a quick 5-2 lead over the Lady Rockets in the opening set. But Crittenden County, who had fought tooth and nail to get a win over Heritage Christian in the semifinals, found its footing and came back to take the opening set 25-15.

Crittenden County’s attack up front from Lacy Boone, Hannah Mott, Carley Porter, and Brooke Winstead, gave the Lady Falcons some difficult problems once the Lady Rockets got rolling.

The Lady Rockets scored the first 10 points of the second set and never glanced backward as they cruised to a 25-11 win to complete the two-set sweep and clinch the berth in the state tournament.

Fort Campbell reached the championship match by picking up a tough 2-1 win in the semifinals over Livingston Central.

The Lady Falcons took an early lead in the opening set, only to see the Lady Cardinals battle back to draw even. Fort Campbell would fight its way through to take a 29-27 win in the set to go up 1-0.

The second set was another hard-fought one, but this time it was the Lady Cardinals finding a way to get the win 25-23, evening the match at one set each.

In the winner take all deciding set, the Lady Falcons picked up a 25-20 win to take the match win and advance on to the championship match.
