Maroons Drop Matches to KCD and Collegiate

A brutally tough schedule for the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons saw another day of top-level competition Saturday. The Maroons traveled to Louisville and returned home with a pair of tough losses.

The day opened with the Maroons taking on Louisville Collegiate. Madisonville-North Hopkins battled the Titans to a 0-0 tie at the break. Then, things got away from the Maroons in the second half.

Collegiate scored five unanswered goals and pulled away to a 5-0 win over the Maroons. Bennett McGregor scored two of the goals for the Titans. Thomas Weinrich added a goal and finished with three assists.

The second match of the day for the Maroons found them facing off against Kentucky Country Day. KCD took a 2-1 lead over Madisonville-North Hopkins into the break.

The Maroons’ goal in the opening half came from Logan Terry on an assist from Logan Mays.

Country Day did not allow the Maroons another score in the second half and the Bearcats were able to get themselves some breathing room with two more goals as they moved out to a 4-1 win.

The two losses drop the Maroons to 6-5 on the season.

Madisonville-North Hopkins is back on the road Tuesday evening to take on Hopkins County Central in a 7th District matchup.
