Noah Rager saw both his score and finish improve from last year following his second trip to the All A Classic State Golf Tournament in Richmond on Saturday.
The Todd County Central sophomore finished tied for 46th place with a 13-over par 85.
A consistent wind between 10-15 mph, combined with the narrow fairways at Gibson Bay Golf Course, presented a challenging day for Rager who overcame a triple-bogey on his first hole. His approach shot into the green of the par-4 hole hit near the damp green and became buried and not findable.
Rager rallied with a birdie as part of a 40 over his final nine holes.
Last year, Rager finished tied for 55th place with a round of 86.
Cam Roberts of Pikeville was the lone golfer to put a red number on the scoreboard. He shot two-under on the back nine and finished with a 3-under par 69. He defeated Sy McDaniel of Lexington Christian by three shots.
