The Trigg County boys’ soccer team saw its first win of the season slip away on Saturday against visiting Logan County after the Wildcats and Cougars battled to a 1-1 draw.
Despite controlling possession throughout, the Wildcats found themselves trailing after Logan County took advantage of a miscommunication in the back to lead 1-0 with eight minutes left in the game.
However, Trigg County answered to tie the match four minutes later on a Corben Woodall goal off an assist from Alex Hurt. The Wildcats had a golden chance to win it inside the last minute, but Hurt’s shot from close range went wide of the Cougar goal.
Trigg sits at 0-6-2 ahead of a big 5th-District matchup with Lyon County on Tuesday. The Lyons had won the last five in the series before the Wildcats ended the streak with a 4-3 victory in last season’s district title game.
