With rain pouring down around them, the University Heights Academy Blazers saw their two-match winning streak come to an end on the road Thursday night. Calloway County took a three goal halftime lead and then ‘swam’ their way to a 4-0 win over the Blazers.
Calloway County scored their three first half goals in a ten minute span to set the Blazers back on their heels.
Oscar Avila scored with 22:33 left in the opening half to put Calloway County up 1-0. Less than five minutes later Brandon Vanmetre scored off a cross to extend the lead to 2-0.
Canaan Bazzell capped off the first half run for the Lady Lakers, scoring with 12:23 to go in the half to push the lead out to 3-0.
Calloway County added a goal in the second half on a penalty kick with 11:10 left to go in the match.
For the Blazers, Eli Finch had six saves in goal on the night.
UHA (6-4) is back in action Saturday night at Mayfield in the sectional round of the All A Classic.
