After battling South Warren to a 3-3 draw Friday night, you had to wonder if the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons might be a little tired as their matchup against Marshall County got underway Saturday morning. Whether fatigue played a role or not, the Maroons just never seemed to get things rolling Saturday morning as the Marshals took a 5-1 win in Madisonville.

It did not take long for the Marshals to get rolling in this one. Maddox Conrad headed a bouncing ball just over the outreached arms of Madisonville goalie Hunter Gamblin just 4:15 into the match to give Marshall County a 1-0 lead.

Just over two minutes later, Owen Staley got a pass to Houston Johnson, who found the net to extend the Marshall County lead to 2-0.

Maddox Schroader scored at the 30:00 mark to give the Marshals a 3-0 lead.

The Maroons looked to grab a little momentum going into the break when Dru Lile hit Eli Redpath with a perfect pass and then Redpath beat the Marshall County keeper to make it 3-1 with four minutes left in the half.

For the half, the Marshals outshot the Maroons 8 to 5.

The score stayed 3-1 until midway through the second half when things went south for the Maroons. Kyle Yates picked up a second yellow card for the day which plays into a red card. The Maroons would then have to play the final 21 minutes a man down. And the Marshals converted on that advantage.

In a span of less than four minutes, Colton Snyder and Davis Hunt scored for Marshall County, running the lead out to 5-1 with just under 14 minutes to go in the match.

Both teams began to play reserves from that point to the end of the match.

The loss drops the Maroons to 7-6-1. They get back to action Tuesday on the road at Fort Campbell.
