For only the second time in school history, the Todd County Central Lady Rebels will be playing in the All A Classic State Soccer Tournament.

The Lady Rebels beat McLean County 5-0 on Saturday in Calhoun for their third win in their last four matches. And it’s come at a good time for the Lady Rebels.

Todd Central used a quick flurry of goals to take command of Saturday’s match.

Scarlett Lancaster, Haylee Chamberlaine, and Jaidyn Holland each scored in the first 20 minutes.

Lancaster came into the match with one goal and provided the dagger less than four minutes into the second half to double her season scoring.

Ellie Robles provided the punctuation mark with less than two minutes left when Lancaster fed her in front and she lofted a shot over the McLean goalie’s head and into the net.

Chamberlaine and Holland also had assists for the Lady Rebels, who outshot McLean 18-3.

It’s been a struggle at times for the Lady Rebels who have battled low numbers and began the season with five losses and tie.

However, things have started to click over the past two weeks – a lot of it because of improved attitude and communication.

“We’ve been a lot better working as a team,” Holland said. “When we are positive and the communication is on, it really enhances everyone’s spirits.”

Defender Anna Ellis concurred with Holland.

“The communication has been good and we’re starting to learn our spots,” Ellis said. “Hopefully we can keep the positivity going.”

For Todd County Central, Saturday was their sixth trip to the All A Sectional round but only its second win. The Lady Rebels advanced to the All A State Tournament in 2020 and lost to Prestonsburg.

Todd Central will play Seventh Region champion Brown in the All A State quarterfinals. The Lady Bears (10-2) are making their first appearance at the state tourney.

Saturday’s game will be at 11:00 Eastern time at Collegiate High’s field in Louisville.

The Lady Rebels will play a 13th District game Tuesday at Franklin-Simpson.
