Girls’ 5th-Place Finish Leads Hoptown at Mustang Stampede

Lauren Mayes’ 12th-place finish helped the Hopkinsville girls to a 5th-place team showing on Saturday at the Muhlenberg County Mustang Stampede.  The Tigers also had three runners in the boys’ race, paced by Tyson Cavinder’s top-12 finish.

Mayes crossed the line in 21:46.76 in a race won by Ohio County’s Morgan Kobylinski with a time of 18:57.70.  Alexis Herrera Loreto was next for the Tigers with a 23:13.64 to finish 29th.

Rebecca Wood finished just inside the top 50 with a 24:19.01, followed closely by teammate Evelyn Bangart in 49th with a time of 24:45.57.  Kaydon Coats ran a 27:17.82 for Hopkinsville, and Luanna Acree was 96th with a 29:58.82.

Cavinder posted an 18:10.60 on the boys’ side, followed for the Tigers by Savior Davis in 39th with a time of 19:33.54, and Fernando Ginez Rojas with a 28:01.69.

Apollo’s Emmitt Brock took the top spot with a time of 16:18.29.
