Caldwell County senior Brylee Butts will play college softball at the University of Memphis.

Butts announced on social media this week that she will play Div. I softball with the Tigers.

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to the University of Memphis to live out my lifelong dream of playing Division 1 softball!” Butts noted. “This wouldn’t be possible without the endless love and support from my parents, my family, my coaches, and teammates.”

Butts was named Class A first-team all-state as a junior this past spring after hitting an even .500 with the Caldwell County Lady Tigers. She had eight home runs, 26 extra-base hits, 33 runs batted in and 14 stolen bases.

At Memphis, Butts will play for new head coach Trena Prater, who was hired in August.

Prater, the 2024 Coastal Athletic Association Coach of the Year, moves to Memphis after leading Campbell University to a 79-39-1 record over the past two seasons.

The Memphis Tigers are in rebuild mode after going 6-44 this past spring and falling in the first round of the American Athletic Conference Tournament.
