Hopkinsville snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-0 shutout of Trigg County on Tuesday — the Tigers’ first clean sheet of the season.

Kyler Delveccio got the Tigers on the board in the match’s first four minutes – his second goal of the season.

The teams traded possessions the rest of the half until Erick Hernandez got loose in the 38th minute for his sixth goal of the season for a 2-0 Tiger lead.

Rodriguez Marcano closed the scoring with three minutes left. Marcano and Mikel Ramirez also had assists for the Tigers, who improved to 4-11 with their fourth win over Trigg County in five meetings.

The Wildcats have been playing better soccer of late, especially on the defensive side. They have allowed eight goals in their last five matches and came into Monday’s match 2-0-2 in their previous four.

Trigg County (2-7-3) will play at Lyon County on Thursday, looking for the season district sweep over the Lyons.

Hopkinsville has a district matchup with Christian County on Thursday as they look to win consecutive matches for the first time since August 17.
