Scott Cortner Shoots Low Round as Caldwell Tops Lyon

Caldwell County picked up a win in its final home golf match of the season, defeating Lyon County by five shots Tuesday afternoon at Princeton Golf Club.

Caldwell’s Scott Cortner birdied the final hole to claim medalist honors with a 1-over-par 37.

Caldwell County senior Collin Whittington and Lyon County’s Cooper Collins were one shot back at 38.

All three of those players, who played in the lead group, went to the final hole at 2-over.

Caldwell finished with a team score of 170 while Lyon carded a 175.

Other scores for the Tigers included a 44 for Landon Mitchell, 51 for Cole Wyatt, 59 for Lukas Harper and 62 for Jacob Rea.

For Lyon, Carson Collins carded a 43 and Issac Defew 46 while Jonah Ramey, Cohen Wiggins and Drew Richie each shot 48.

Jimmy Cowan shot 49 and Colton Gobin 56.

Three girls also played during Tuesday’s round.

Carmen Phillips shot a 55 for Lyon while teammate Sadie Gandee shot 61.

For Caldwell, Marlye Harper carded a 64.

Lyon County will host Trigg County and Livingston Central on Thursday at The Cullan at Mineral Mound State Park.

The 1st Region golf tournaments are next week. The girls will play Tuesday at Drake Creek Golf Club in Ledbetter while the boys play Wednesday at Calvert City Country Club.
