NARP Report 2: What a CATURDAY Against Georgia

A lot went right for UK players and fans last week against Georgia. (Lilia Saxena Smithson)

Hey hey hey — WHAT A CATURDAY!

NARPs (Non Athletic Regular People), we are back, and WOW, what a game (against Georgia) we have to discuss. UK deserves a round of a-Paws for taking it to the Bulldogs like they did with the 12-13 final!

Before we say what went wrong leading to the slim one-point defeat, let’s say what went right.

We should start with a big shoutout to our DEFENSE! They really stepped up their game! Who would have thought they would hold the Dawgs to 13 points? …. no one.

The offensive line saw huge improvements from last week. We all know how strong Georgia’s defense is, but our O line held strong — even with the struggles to get into the end zone.  Last week, I told you that the offense was on its way to Kroger Field!

Lilia Saxena Smithson (center) and her friends enjoyed watching UK almost beat Georgia.

With that being said, there were two plays that had game-changing potential:

1)The interception for a touchdown that was overturned in the second. The refs could’ve thrown us a bone, even though we aren’t the dogs!

2) Our fourth and eight punt with 3 minutes left. Watching the team after this call had a different vibe—even they weren’t on board. If we had made the first down, we were moving into field goal position for a win against the top team in the country.

Last week, we saw interceptions, not turnovers. You were looking at a whole new team this week. The top priority for Saturday (at Ole Miss) is touchdowns. If we come out swinging like we did against Georgia and get more points on the board, we will be the team to beat!

Let’s hope this is the setup we will see for the rest of the season. If so, everybody needs to watch out (knock on wood)!

  1. I forget who penned it but I liked the Moniker "Slobber Knocker" for the game against GA. Because that is what it was! 🙂
