The University Heights Academy Blazers will head off to Louisville and the All A Classic state tournament this weekend on a three-match winning streak and having won five of their last six. The latest win for the Blazers came on the road at Russellville Thursday night.

UHA took a 4-0 halftime lead and rolled on to a 5-0 win over the Panthers.

The Blazers got on the board just two and a half minutes into the match when Griffin McCoy found the net off an assist from Cal Givens to put the Blazers up 1-0. It was McCoy’s 9th goal of the season.

The score remained that way until the 11:00 mark when Hayden Hunt scored a header off a corner kick from Givens that moved the Blazers’ lead out to 2-0. Hunt found the net again at the 27:00 off a Clayton Lester assist, and the Blazers led 3-0. Hunt’s two goals put him in the team lead with 10.

Hunt then returned the favor on a goal from Lester at 33:00, sending UHA off to the break with a 4-0 lead.

The Blazers added a goal in the second half at the 64:00 when Lincoln Hauret took a crossing pass from Cal Givens and sent it into the net.

UHA finished the match with 22 shots on goal, while at the other end not allowing the Panthers many chances to get a look at the goal. UHA goalie Hayden Fitzsimmons ended up with one save for the night.

UHA (9-4) will now take on Prestonsburg Saturday at Louisville Assumption in the quarterfinals of the All A Classic state tournament.
