
After starting the season off with three straight losses, the Fort Campbell Falcons have now won two straight. The Falcons carried the momentum off of last week’s big upset of Madisonville-North Hopkins into a 50-12 win over Fort Knox in the annual Army Bowl game Friday night at Fryar Stadium.
The win was the second straight in the series for the Falcons and the 18th in the last 20 meetings between the two military installation high schools.
Keshawn Dixon got things started for the Falcons scoring a pair of first half touchdowns, a one yard run and a five yard run, as the Falcons took a 14-0 lead with 11:58 to go in the first half.
Fort Knox got a big 86 yard touchdown run from Vaughn Fielding-Chiles with 6:08 to go in the half that cut the lead to 14-6.
On the Eagles next possession, Torrance Dixon came up with a pick and ran it back 50 yards for the score. Ryan Brewer’s third extra point of the night made it 21-6 with 4:04 to go in the half.
Fort Campbell got the ball back again before the end of the half and took advantage of the opportunity. J.P. Perryman rambled for 23 yards to the end zone and the lead was at 28-6 going into the half.
The Falcons then delivered the knockout blow to open the second half. Eric Greene took the second half kickoff and returned it 57 yards to the house as Fort Campbell moved the lead out to 35-6.
Fort Campbell struck on another big play with 9:18 to go in the third quarter. Keshawn Dixon ripped off a 52 yard touchdown run, and with the two point conversion, the Falcon lead was 43-6.
Fort Knox slowed down the Falcon train late in the third when Jaylen Irish ran it in from 7 yards out with 46 seconds to go in the quarter, making it 43-12.
The Falcons had one more big play left in them. This one in the form of a Keshawn Dixon 53 yard touchdown run with 3:06 left to go in the game.
For the game, Fort Campbell outgained Fort Knox 287 to 243.
Keshawn Dixon led the Fort Campbell rushing attack with 13 carries for 210 yards and 4 touchdowns. J.P. Perryman had 36 yards and a score.
Perryman was 3-8 through the air with one interception. He had 41 yards passing.
The Falcons were the beneficiaries of six Fort Knox turnovers, three fumbles and three interceptions.
Fort Campbell improves to 2-3 with the win. The Falcons are back in action next Friday night when they host Fulton County at Fryar Stadium.
