The Trigg County Lady Wildcats came close to having a chance to pull off back-to-back wins on the volleyball court Thursday night. While the Lady Wildcats dropped their match with St. Mary in straight sets, they were right on the verge of picking up the sweep themselves, just two nights after they had knocked off the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.

The match Thursday night opened with a close battle in the opening set. The Lady Vikings would end up taking the set 25-21.

The second set saw more of the saw as the Lady Wildcats pushed St. Mary to the very end before dropping the set 25-21, giving the Lady Vikings a two sets to none lead in the match.

The third set was another tough one that came right down to the end, with Trigg County having its chances. St. Mary would close out the match with a 25-23 win.

Trigg County gets back to action Tuesday night when the Lady Wildcats host Crittenden County in a 5th District contest in Wildcat Gym.
