In the lore of Apollo 13, the line was ‘Houston, we have a problem.’ Saturday night, Houston was the problem for the Todd County Central Rebels. Houston Whitaker scored four touchdowns and McLean County scored the first 22 points of the game, as the Cougars went on to take a 42-22 win over the Rebels Saturday night in Elkton. The win was the 11th straight in the series for the Cougars.
Turnovers were an issue for the Rebels in the contest. Todd County Central gave up four interceptions to the Cougars in the game.
McLean County got on the board with 2:45 to go in the opening quarter when Aden Bolden hit Houston Whitaker for a 47 yard touchdown strike. After the two point conversion, McLean County led 8-0.
The Cougars scored again early in the second quarter when Kamden Walters ran it in from 12 yards out to extend the lead to 16-0. Inside the final minute of the second quarter, Houston Whitaker picked off a Braylon Elderbrook pass and returned it to the house to give McLean County a 22-0 lead going into the half.

The Rebels finally broke through early in the second half and it was the defense that got things going. B.J. Farlow picked up a Cougar fumble and ran it back 38 yards, Mar’Shawn Fletcher scored the two point conversion to make it 22-8.
Houston Whitaker scored his third touchdown of the game on a 12 yard run with 6:49 left in the third giving the Cougars a 28-8 lead. Early in the final quarter, Whitaker scored again, this time on a 24 yard pass from Ayden Rice. With the conversion, the Cougar lead moved out to 36-8.
Todd County Central struck on the kickoff. Mar’Shawn Fletcher took the kickoff at the 20 and rambled 80 yards for the score to cut the lead to 36-14.
Trokoby Gill broke off a long 56 yard touchdown run with 4:39 left in the game as McLean County took a 42-14 lead.
Jamir Brewer scored for Todd County Central in the final minute of the game on a 4 yard touchdown run to close out the scoring for the night.
The Rebels fall to 2-3 on the season. They will be back at home next Friday as they host the Russellville Panthers.
