Kolby Crook’s round at the Region 2 Golf Tournament didn’t end with the score he wanted but just playing in the event was victory enough for the Dawson Springs senior.
Crook shot a round of 90 to finish in 56th place. He was the lone Panther representative at the region tourney in Owensboro, which was suspended on Monday after a pair of two-hour delays. Crook was on the 11th hole when the horn sounded at 6:30 to stop play. He returned on Tuesday to finish his round.
Crook suffered a torn ACL in the spring and was told he would likely miss a year of athletics due to the amount of damage in and around the knee. Sporting a large brace, Crook was able to return a couple of weeks ago and compete in his final high school golf match.
Owensboro’s Jax Malone won the region title with a 2-under par 70, one shot ahead of Daviess County’s Grant Broughton. Hopkinsville’s Wade Foster was third with an even-par 72.
