University Heights Academy began play in the Region 2 Golf Tournament on Monday with five golfers but finished with three on Tuesday.

The tourney in Owensboro was suspended on Monday after a pair of two-hour delays. The UHA golfers had already made the turn on Monday when the horn sounded at 6:30 to stop play.

With play continuing on Tuesday, two Blazer golfers were unable to complete their rounds due to prior academic and personal obligations.

Hayden Hunt recorded a top-25 finish with a round of 83. Cal Givens carded an 85 to finish tied for 36th place, and Courtland Gibson tied for 45th place with an 87.

For Hunt and Givens, the extra day on the golf course capped a busy stretch where they played in the All A Classic State Soccer Tournament in Louisville on Saturday and spent Monday and Tuesday on the golf course. Tuesday night, they returned to Hopkinsville to help the Blazers defeat Hopkinsville 4-1 and earn the top seed in the 8th District Soccer Tournament.

Owensboro’s Jax Malone won the region title with a 2-under par 70, one shot ahead of Daviess County’s Grant Broughton. Hopkinsville’s Wade Foster was third with an even-par 72.
