
Marshall County’s girls ran their regional championship streak to eight by running away with the team competition Tuesday at the Region 1 Golf Tournament in Ledbetter.
The Lady Marshals’ team score of 317 was 35 shots better than runner-up McCracken County on the Drake Creek Golf Club course
Murray took third at 372.
CeCelia Ray led the way for Marshall with a 5-over-par round of 77. That made her the individual runner-up, just two shots behind Ballard Memorial’s Madison Glisson, who claimed her first championship.
Marshall’s Katie Roberts tied for third with a 78, joining the McCracken County duo of Sophie Hollowell and Harper Hunt.
Marshall’s Skylar Waller and Paducah Tilghman’s McCall Moore each shot 79.
Katie Abernathy of Hickman County and Emile Miller of Graves County were next with 80s.
Other scores for Marshall saw Kelli Roberts shoot an 83 while Brooklyn Cunningham carded a 91.
The top two teams in the regional and the next 10 individuals with the lowest scores play in the State First Round competition next Tuesday at Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.
Glisson, Moore, Miller and Abernathy are all individual qualifiers, along with Avery Sullivan of Mayfield (82), Macy Saylor of Murray (82), Emmerson Vaughn of Murray (85), Keely Henson of Mayfield (87), Emma Dowell of Trigg County (87) and Lilly Perry of Lyon County (89).
