Caldwell County picked up a 6-1 Senior Night win over Paducah St. Mary on Thursday, but it was freshmen Collin Turmero and Kale Turmero that did most of the offensive damage for the Tigers.
The twins had two goals apiece as Caldwell and St. Mary managed to avoid the heavy rains that were in the area.
Collin Turmero got the scoring started with 20:33 left in the first half with help from Chase Lantrip.
Kale Turmero scored on a penalty kick just over 2 minutes later to make it 2-0.
Sutton Ritchey nearly made it 3-0 at halftime. His free kick from near the midfield circle found its way into the upper corner of the goal. However, officials blew the whistle for halftime while the shot was on its way, and the half concluded before the ball went in the net.
Caldwell’s third goal came at the 18:15 mark of the second half. Deacon Carter scored in front on a crossing pass from Kale Turmero.
Collin Turmero picked up his second goal just over 3 minutes later to extend the margin to 4-0.
St. Mary (0-13) broke up the shutout with 10:00 to play when Drew Hahn slipped behind the defense and beat the goalkeeper.
Landon Lanham answered that goal with 2:58 to play with an unassisted tally.
Kale Turmero scored his second goal of the night in the closing seconds to finish off the 6-1 victory.
The Tigers outshot the Vikings 24-10.
Grayson Harris made four saves in the Caldwell net.
Caldwell, now 3-8-2, plays again on Tuesday with a trip to Fort Campbell.
