It was not the start to the final week of the regular season that the UHA Blazers were looking for. Marshall County took a 2-0 halftime lead and then held off the Blazers in the second half to take a 2-1 win Monday night in Draffenville.
The Marshals took the lead at the 15:00 mark when Isaac Reynolds put the ball in the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Marshall County extended the lead and took some momentum towards the half when Jaxon Bishop scored at 23:55 into the match, making it 2-0 in favor of the Marshals. That would be the score as the two teams went into the break.
The Blazers came out in the second half and made their move to get back into the match. Hayden Hunt cut the lead in half with a goal at 54:52, making it a 2-1 match.
UHA would have a handful of good chances over the final 25 minutes of the match to tie things up, but could not get the shots to find the back of the net.
Eli Finch had six saves in goal for the Blazers in the match.
University Heights (11-7-0) will finish out the regular season Thursday on the road at Hopkins County Central.
