
It made for a nice sendoff for the 13 seniors on the Colonel soccer team. On Senior Night, Christian County found the net seven times on the way to a 7-1 win over Hopkins County Central in the final home game of the 2024 soccer season.
Christian County got on the board at the 16:00 mark when Noah Davis took a crossing pass from Christian Lopez and headed it into the net to put the Colonels up 1-0.
The Colonels then firmly grabbed control of the match with a pair of goals in the final 60 seconds of the half with goals from Jaden Woolf and Christian Lopez to move the lead out to 3-0 and the half. Lopez assisted on Woolf’s goal while Jensen Nolte came up with a nice pass on the goal by Lopez.
Goalie Mason Malone scored his first goal of the season in the second half. Malone converted a penalty kick for the Colonels at the 54:00 extending the lead to 4-0.
Hopkins County Central stemmed the tide briefly when Colh Hoard found the net at 58:00 to cut the lead to 4-1.
But that was the end of any rally for the Storm as the Colonels scored three times over the final 7 ½ minutes of the match. Christian Lopez, Alex Hale, and Jaden Woolf all found the net in the final moments of the match.
For the night, Christian County outshot the Storm 29 to 9.
Christian County (10-6-0) will wrap up the regular season on the road at Lyon County Thursday night.
Hopkins County Central (6-5-3) will wrap things up at home Thursday night against University Heights.
