Cate Blane will make a fifth trip to the championship round of the KHSAA State Golf Tournament following an 11th-place finish on Tuesday at the state first round in Hopkinsville.
The Hopkinsville High School senior shot a 10-over par 81 at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club – her home course.
After starting her round with consecutive bogeys, Blane settled down with four pars and a birdie on her next five holes.
She encountered some trouble at the turn with two bogeys and a double bogey but was able to right the ship and string together four pars and a birdie on the back nine.
Blane’s score was five shots off the day’s leaders – Daviess County’s Claire Reynolds, Cumberland County’s Kenzie Wilson, and Ballard Memorial’s Madison Glisson – who all shot a 5-over par 76.
She will make her fifth and final appearance in the championship round, to be played Oct. 11-12 at the Bowling Green Country Club. She finished tied for 37th place last year after a career-best 26th-place finish in 2022.
