
The Christian County volleyball team made Tuesday a Senior Night to remember for Skylar Kirby and Emma Webster with a 3-0 victory over 8th-District rivals Fort Campbell.
The Lady Colonels raced out to a 12-5 advantage in the opening set after a kill and an ace by Kaidence Atwell and never trailed in a 25-15 win.
After Fort Campbell took an 8-7 lead in the second on a kill by Amanda Kalili-Liusa, Christian County answered with a pair of kills by Skylar Kirby.
Atwell served up the following 11 points for the Lady Colonels, including five aces, to take control at 18-8 on the way to a 10-point victory.
Christian County never trailed in the final set, forcing a Fort Campbell timeout after a kill by Ashlea Russell. The Lady Falcons got as close as 20-11 after back-to-back aces by Kalili-Liusa, but Kirby had a pair of kills over the final five points to close out the match.
The Lady Colonels improved to 10-14, 6-1 in district play, ahead of a trip to Hopkins County Central on Thursday.
The Lady Falcons slipped to 5-8, 1-4 against 8th-District competition, ahead of a visit from University Heights Academy on Thursday.
