
The Hopkins County Central girls’ soccer team completed an 11-6-1 regular season on Thursday with a 3-0 victory over hosts Lyon County, the Lady Storm’s sixth shutout.
A first-half goal by Elissa Adams off an assist from Lilly Armour gave the Lady Storm a 1-0 edge at the halftime break.
Emma Vandiver doubled the Hopkins Central lead with a header off a corner kick from Ashdyn Dugger, and Adams completed her brace with a goal off a pass from Riley Richardson.
Lyon County slipped to 7-8 ahead of a matchup with Crittenden County on Monday in the opening round of the 5th District tournament.
The second-seeded Lady Storm will face Caldwell County in the 7th District tournament on Monday. Hopkins Central took the regular season meeting between the teams 4-1 and has won the last five in the series.
