Hidden Mountain Resort in Sevierville, Tenn., is a hidden gem that not nearly enough people know about.
Certainly there are plenty of mountain cabins to rent for vacation in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area but Hidden Mountain Resort bills itself as the “original log cabin resort in the Smokies” with resort being the key word.
Hidden Mountain is a gated area and the onsite office is open 24/7 every day except Christmas and Easter. Trust me, you can rent cabins from other places where that is not the case. But if you have a problem at Hidden Mountain, help is only a phone call or shot drive/walk away.
I also like that within 10 minutes at most you can be back on the main parkway. You certainly still get the cabin experience but it is not a long, winding, treacherous drive in the mountains, especially at night.
We have stayed at Hidden Mountain twice and will be again at Christmas (photos included of the spot we have rented that really has my four grandchildren excited because of the hot tub with TV outside, movie room and game options in the cabin).
With the recent flood damage in Tennessee and North Carolina, Hidden Mountain has reached out to make it clear the resort is operating with full services and roads to Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are fine. This is a great time of year to visit but actually any time is just depending on what you want to do.
Here is the information I got from Hidden Mountain Resort:
“In response to many guests who have called to check on us and upcoming visits, we wanted to send a quick update along with fall photos from the resort. While the recent flooding brought on by Hurricane Helene has greatly devastated certain parts of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina, Sevier County tourism destinations were not impacted and are open for our autumn visitors. However, please check your route if you normally travel Interstates 40 or 26 near Asheville, NC, as parts of these interstates are closed along with many additional roads in that area. You will need to reroute and possibly plan additional travel time.
“We are so grateful to be able to welcome guests to enjoy all the beauty of autumn in the Smokies. Still, our hearts hurt for so many fellow mountain people and towns that were devastated.
“If you would like to donate to the ongoing rescue & recovery efforts taking place in Tennessee and North Carolina, we have seen evidence that these organizations — Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief, East Tennessee Foundation and Samaritan Purses (N.C.) — are putting donations directly to work in the hardest hit areas. Please consider a donation to these or other organizations helping those in need.”
I have friends at Hidden Mountain Resorts this week who are having a great time and enjoying gorgeous weather.
