The youthful UHA Lady Blazers finished out the district portion of the 2024 volleyball schedule with a winning record. They secured that Thursday night by traveling down to Fort Campbell and coming away with a straight-set win over the Lady Falcons.
The win puts the Lady Blazers at 5-3 in the district and locks them into the #3 spot for the 8th District tournament.
UHA came out and won the opening set Thursday night 25-18. The second set was more of the same with the Lady Blazers again winning 25-18 to go up two sets to none in the match.
With the momentum rolling on their side, the Lady Blazers closed out the match by winning the third set 25-16 to take the match three sets to none.
The 1-2 punch at the net for UHA came up with another big night. Olivia Oakley had 12 kills while Taylor Cantrell added 9. Oakley also had 10 digs in the match. Eighth grader Kiley Lambert joined in on the attack party and had 8 kills of her own.
A solid effort from Gretchen Durham who set things up with 29 assists. She also had one solo block and two digs.
UHA improvest to 8-17 for the season. The Lady Blazers will travel to Graves County on Tuesday.
Fort Campell falls to 5-10 overall and 1-6 in district play. The Lady Falcons host Hopkinsville Tuesday night.
