The Fort Campbell Falcons are headed to Tuesday night’s 8th District soccer semifinals. Fort Campbell got six goals from Aiden Freck as the Falcons rolled past a short-handed Heritage Christian Academy team.
Fort Campbell scored four goals in the first 15 minutes to grab control of the match with a 4-0 lead. It could have been even bigger as the Falcons had two goals in the first two minutes waived off on offsides calls.
Freck scored goals at 8:22 and 10:14 off assists from Chase Cribbett. Aiden Ward scored two minutes later. And, Freck scored his third goal of the opening half at 14:53.
Give the Warriors credit. Playing with only ten players, they fought to stay in the match as long as they could. Kallan Davis scored his 26th goal of the season at 19:33 to cut the lead to 4-1 and temporarily slow down the Fort Campbell express.
But it was a short delay in what would turn out to be inevitable Saturday afternoon. Just 27 seconds later, Ryan Brewer crossed the ball to Robert Charles, and the freshman found the back of the net to make it 5-1. Less than 4 minutes after that Branson Bussy took a long shot from outside the box on the right side and curled it into the goal over the top of the keeper to make it 6-1.
Kallan Davis struck again for the Warriors late in the half. Davis beat several Fort Campbell defenders on a run down the field and scored his 27th and final goal of the season to sent the match to the break at 6-2.
Fort Campbell would close out the match with four goals in the first part of the second half. Aiden Freck scored three of those, including the one that ended the match. After serving up two scores for Freck, Chase Cribbett scored a second half goal on a run down the middle of the field.
Heritage Christian sees its season come to an end with a record of 1-12-1.
Fort Campbell improves to 8-7-2 and moves on to the district semifinals on Tuesday, where the Falcons will get their third shot at the University Heights Academy Blazers. UHA won the meetings during the regular season 1-0 and 5-0.
