
When the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors decided to put their foot on the gas Monday evening, the McLean County Lady Cougars simply had no chance. HCA used big runs in each set as the Lady Warriors swept their way past the Lady Cougars for their 16th win of the season.
Heritage led 11-10 in the opening set when the Lady Warriors dropped the hammer in the form of a 10-0 run that took the lead out to 21-10. The Lady Warriors would take the set 25-13 to go up one set to none. HCA got big plays from Mya Goodwin, Katie Cansler, and Grace Conley during the run.
In the second set, Heritage was up just 14-12 when they lowered the boom again. This time it was a 9-0 run keyed by the play of Goodwin and Cansler that blew the set open as the lead went out to 23-12. The Lady Warriors won thet set 25-14 to take a two sets to none lead.
Strong play from Addyson Kirby and Rachel Roberts helped McLean County jump out to an 8-3 lead in the third set. Enter big run #3 for the Lady Warriors. With HCA getting a spark from Grace Conley and Makenzie McCarty, the Lady Warriors used a 14-2 run to take a 17-10 lead and that was pretty much the set and the match.
Heritage would go on to take the third set 25-14 and close out the match three sets to none.
Katie Cansler led the attack at the net for the Lady Warriors with 11 kills. Mya Goodwin added 9 more and had 3 service aces.
Heritage Christian had a big-time 1-2 combination at setting the table. Mackenzie McCarty ended up with 16 assists while Hadlee Hayes added 11.
The Lady Warriors go to 16-5 on the season and will now get a week off before they host Foundation Christian next Monday night.
