The two-time defending 8th District champion University Heights Academy Lady Blazers got a hat trick from Audrey Perry to cruise past Christian County in Monday’s semifinal matchup.
UHA improved to 13-3 with its third-straight victory and 20th in a row in the series with the Lady Colonels.
Perry struck first on a penalty kick with just over two and a half minutes played after a Christian County handball in the box. Just 17 seconds later, Gracie Ausenbaugh doubled the advantage off a pass from Kendall Hancock.
Alyssa Grice’s goal from outside the box made it 3-0 midway through the half. Christian County’s best scoring chance of the night came a minute later when Emerson Boyd’s shot sailed just wide of the near post.
Perry was on target again from the penalty spot and added her third goal on a shot from outside the box with 2:22 left in the half. Kate Lynn Gibson found the back of the net off an assist from Grice to send the Lady Blazers into the break with a 6-0 lead.
UHA only needed 15 minutes in the second half to finish off the match, beginning with Hancock’s second goal off a cross from Ausenbaugh. Pressley Bruce closed the show when she got on the end of a ball across the six-yard box with 24:28 left on the clock.
Madison Williams earned her eighth shutout of the season without making a save.
