There was nothing unlucky about the 13th straight 7th District championship for Madisonville-North Hopkins.
Senior Eli Redpath not only had a hat trick, but recorded his 100th career goal as the Maroons blanked Caldwell County 8-0 in the title tilt Tuesday night at Donley Field in Madisonville.
Maddox Schneider and Logan Terry each had two goals for the Maroons, who will go for their third-straight 2nd Region championship next week at the Stadium of Champions in Hopkinsville.
Madisonville (15-6-1) will carry an eight-match winning streak into the regional tourney after dispatching Caldwell, which upset Hopkins County Central 4-2 in the district semifinal on Monday.
The Maroons’ district championship came with some other milestone.
Senior goalkeeper Hunter Gamblin recorded his 18th career shutout, which is a school record.
Senior Dru Lile became the all-time leader at Madisonville-North Hopkins history in total games played.
Meanwhile, Redpath is just the third Maroon to score 100 goals — and just the 30th player in state history to reach that mark.
Redpath assisted on the first goal of the night, setting up Schneider just 3:25 into the contest.
Redpath then scored on a penalty kick at the 30:22 mark to make it 2-0.
Goal No. 100 came just 1:04 later as Redpath hammered home a rebound after the ball ricocheted around in front of the net following a corner kick.
Terry’s first tally came with 24:58 left in the half with Justin Rodgers picking up the assist.
Terry scored again at the 19:26 mark off a Schneider corner kick to make it 5-0.
Schneider netted his second goal with 1:51 left in the half with help from Terry as the Maroons went to halftime with a 6-0 advantage.
Noah Mays scored off a Schneider assist at the 38:01 mark of the second half to extend the margin to 7-0.
Redpath then finished the night by finishing with a nifty backward kick over the keeper and into the far side of the net following a corner by Nelson Menjivar.
That came at the 32:29 mark, ending the game early on the mercy rule.
Grayson Harris turned away 11 shots in the Caldwell net. But the Tiger offense could only record one shot at the other end.
Madisonville has taken 19 straight matches from Caldwell and leads the all-time series 27-1.
The Tigers will carry a 4-11-2 mark into the regional tournament next week.
