Conlee Lindsey rebounded from a tough first day at the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf Tournament to finish with her best score in the season-ending event.
The University Heights Academy senior shot a 16-over par 88 in Friday’s first round at the Bowling Green Country Club.
Lindsey could never find her rhythm in a round that featured six pars and no birdies. She shot a 44 on each side of the course.
On Saturday, she shaved seven shots off her Friday score with a 9-over par 81. She began on the back nine and carded a birdie and four pars. On the front nine, she had five pars and a birdie to finish with a 38.
Lindsey’s two-day total of +25 saw her finish tied for 45th place. Both her score and finish were her career-best in four trips to the state tournament. She finished tied for 53rd place last year.
Rowan County’s Athena Singh shot 5-under par to win the state title by nine shots over Cumberland County’s Kenzie Wilson. Ballard Memorial’s Madison Glisson tied for fourth place at 6-over.
Lindsey has committed to Northern Kentucky University to continue her golf career.
