With district tournament play beginning next week, the Caldwell County Lady Tigers may be finding their stride at the right time. The Lady Tigers went on the road Tuesday night and came away with a three set to one win over the homesteading Christian County Lady Colonels.
The win was the third straight and eighth in the last nine matches for the Lady Tigers. The only loss in that stretch was a road defeat at regional contender Heritage Christian Academy.
Caldwell County started the night strong, taking a big lead in the first set. However, Christian County battled back and eventually won the opening set 25-23 to go up one set to none.
The second set was all Caldwell County. The Lady Tigers jumped out to the lead and never let up on the gas, winning the set 25-9 to even up the match at a set apiece.
The two teams battled through the third set before Caldwell County took control late and won the set 25 to 21 to go up two sets to one.
The Lady Tigers controlled much of the fourth set and ended up winning the set 25-17 to close out the match at three sets to one.
Caldwell County got big plays in the match from Rylee Thompson, Benashka Thomas, and Brylee Butts.
Kaidence Atwell and Skylar Kirby led the effort for the Lady Colonels.
