
A 28-point first quarter and a ground attack that churned out 334 yards powered Fort Campbell to a 52-12 District 2 victory over visiting Todd County Central on Friday. It was the 38th all-time meeting between the programs, with the Falcons now leading the series 29-9.
Riding a three-game winning streak, the Falcons needed less than four minutes to get on the scoreboard with Torrance Dixon’s two-yard touchdown run. Less than a minute later, Eric Greene hauled in a 20-yard pass from JP Perryman to make it 14-0 with 7:28 left in the opening quarter.
Keshawn Dixon got in on the act with a six-yard scoring run, and Torrance Dixon added his second touchdown on a plunge from one yard out to put the Falcons in complete control.
Todd Central showed some life to start the second quarter, with Braylon Elderbrook’s four-yard run cutting into the Fort Campbell advantage. However, Keshawn Dixon answered for the Falcons less than two minutes later on a 30-yard hookup with Perryman to restore the four-score cushion at 35-6.
On the ensuing kickoff, Todd Central’s Zikavion Martin ran for an 80-yard touchdown that would be the Rebels’ last points of the night.
Ryan Brewer’s 26-yard field goal provided the first points of the second half, followed by Torrance Dixon’s 65-yard pick-six to put the Rebels in front 44-12. The Falcon senior now leads the state in return touchdowns with four.
Fort Campbell finally triggered a running clock with 8:33 left in the game on an impressive catch by Greene on a 35-yard toss from Perryman.
Three Falcons rushed for over 100 yards, led by Keshawn Dixon’s 120 on 18 carries with a score. Perryman added 113 yards on nine attempts to go with 86 yards and three TDs through the air. Torrance Dixon finished with 101 yards on 14 tries with a pair of touchdowns.
Greene was Perryman’s favorite target, with three catches for 58 yards and two scores.
The Falcons totaled 445 yards and picked up 15 1st downs. The Rebels managed 187 yards, including 134 passing for Elderbrook, and moved the chains eight times.
Half of Elderbrook’s 12 completions went to Mar’Shawn Fletcher, who finished with 99 yards receiving.
Fort Campbell improved to 4-3, 2-0 in district play. The Falcons have a measuring stick game next week when undefeated Owensboro Catholic visits.
The injury-hit Rebels dropped their fourth in a row, falling to 2-6 and remaining winless in district play. They will host Edmonson County next week in Elkton.
