
Hancock County rolled up 360 yards of offense and held visiting Hopkins County Central to a single trip to the end zone in Friday’s 45-7 district victory.
The Hornets bounced back from their first loss of the season to finish their district slate at 4-1 and improve to 8-1 ahead of a trip to Grayson County next week.
Hancock County averaged six yards per rushing attempt on the way to 192 yards on the ground, with Wyatt Emmick leading the way with 77 yards and a touchdown on eight attempts.
Brady Eubanks and Chris Gillispie also ran for scores, and quarterback Dylan Morris found the end zone twice on only three carries.
Morris also completed 8/11 passes for 116 yards and a score, with Cooper Jones finishing with 67 yards on two catches.
Hopkins Central’s Sylas Gunn threw for 116 yards and a touchdown but also tossed a pair of interceptions. Isac Earl had five catches for 53 yards and a touchdown, and Isaac Manning caught three balls for 42 yards.
The Storm was held to only 31 yards rushing and finished with only 128 total yards. Zayden Parker came into the night averaging a shade under 80 yards per game but managed only 26 on 12 attempts against the Hornets’ defense.
Hopkins Central slipped to 3-6, 2-3 in district play, and will host Fulton County in the regular-season finale. The Storm will hit the road in week one of the playoffs to face undefeated Hart County.
