
Crittenden County will send two runners to next week’s state cross country meet after finishing in the top 21 on Saturday.
Sophomore River Rogers finished in 17th place at Saturday’s Class 1A Region 1 Meet at Marshall County, covering the 3.1-mile course in a time of 19:21.
Asa McCord was 21st in 19:38.
Both Rogers and McCord will compete at next Saturday’s Class 1A State Meet at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
Also running on Saturday was Landon Starkey, who came in 32nd place in 20:48. Zachary Rustin was 48th in 22:47 followed by Noah Martinez (23:03) in 49th place and Cameron Nesbitt (29:52) in 60th place.
As a team, Crittenden County just missed qualifying for the state meet with a sixth-place finish with 165 points. The top five teams in the region standings will go to Lexington with the Rockets 19 points out of fifth place.
