Tyson Cavinder will be returning to the Class 2A state cross country meet following a top-ten finish at region.
The Hopkinsville sophomore finished in seventh place at Saturday’s Class 2A Region 1 Meet at Marshall County High School with a time of 17:39. Union County’s Tristan Coy won the race in 16:42.
Cavinder will be making a return trip to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington this Saturday, the site of the Class 2A state meet.
Also competing at the region meet was Savior Davis, who ran a time of 18:47 to finish in 20th place.
Fernando Ginez Rojas finished in 45th place with a time of 23:59.
Hopkinsville did not field a full team to qualify for a team score.
