
Landon Posey’s top ten finish and a tight grouping from its top five runners saw Hopkins County Central finish in fourth place at the Class 2A Region 1 Cross Country Meet on Saturday and qualify for the state meet for the second straight year.
The freshman turned in the top finish for the Storm with a sixth-place finish in a time of 17:37 over the 3.1-mile course. Kaiden Devargas finished in 15th place with a time of 18:22.
Sam Martin was 21st in 18:47 while Todd Payne was 30th in 19:31 and Alex Ray was 32nd in 19:36.
Dominic Vignone finished in 37th place for Hopkins Central with a time of 20:33 and Jaxon Adcock was 41st in 21:08.
Union County’s Tristan Coy won the race with a time of 16:42 seconds.
Hopkins County Central scored 95 points to finish nine points ahead of fifth place Trigg County. Paducah Tilghman won the region title with 57 points.
The Storm will run at the Class 2A State Meet this Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
