Shelby Holderman was named to the all-4th Region Volleyball Team

To say the 4th Region Volleyball Tournament draw has been unkind to the Todd County Central Lady Rebels over the past decade would be a massive understatement.

For the third straight time and fifth time in seven years, the Lady Rebels drew the No. 1 team in the KHSAA RPI for the region in a first-round matchup.

On Monday, it was Bowling who handed the Lady Rebels a 3-0 (25-6, 25-8, 25-16) loss in the quarterfinals at Metcalfe County High School.

Bowling Green improved to 31-6 overall and 12-1 against region competition. Its only loss was to Logan County in straight sets on Oct. 1.

Shelby Holderman had six assists and an ace in the match and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Aubri Penick had five kills with Callie Chapman adding two and Allyssa Wofford contributing a kill and a block.

Todd County Central fell to 0-5 all-time against the Lady Purples. The Lady Rebels have seen their season end at the hands of Bowling Green three of the past four seasons – each time the Lady Purples were the top RPI team in the region.

The same thing happened in 2015-16 when Todd lost to top RPI team South Warren in the first round of the region in consecutive seasons.

Despite Monday’s loss, the Todd County senior class of Emily Thomas, Callie Chapman, and Josie Williams won 79 games in four seasons and advanced to the All A Classic State Tournament in 2022.
