
Christian County’s first trip to the state cross country meet in 16 years resulted in a 34th-place finish on Saturday.
In his final high school cross country race, Michael Webb finished in 154th place with a time of 18:19 over the 3.1-mile course at the Kentucky Horse Park.
Webb was making his third state meet appearance with his time trimming three seconds off last year’s finish.
Senior Wyatt Fleming followed Webb across the finish line in 181st place in 18:36. For Fleming, it was also his third state meet appearance. He finished in 253rd as a sophomore and 186th as a freshman. His time bested his freshman time by nearly a minute.
Rex Taggart followed up his strong finish at last week’s region with a 196th place finish in 18:53 – his third straight time under 19 minutes.
Senior JT Miles ran a 19:20 and crossed the line in 229th place, while fellow senior Joseph Parker was 247th in 19:56. Miles had been running with the Colonels since his freshman season while Parker ran at the region as an eighth grader. Both were able to close their Colonel careers at the state meet.
Seventh grader Bryce Hamlin finished in 253rd place at 20:06. His time was the second-fastest among seventh graders in the race that featured 291 runners.
Lucas Coates was 273rd in 20:48 with the third fastest time among seventh graders.
Cooper’s Paul Van Laningham won the race with a time of 15:19.
