Taylor Morris closed her cross country career with a 140th-place finish on Saturday at the Class 3A State Meet in Lexington.
The Christian County senior ran the paddock course at the Kentucky Horse Park in 21:57. While her time Saturday was 46 seconds slower than her region time last week, Morris knocked over three minutes off her time from the start of the year.
In making consecutive appearances at the state meet, Morris became the first Lady Colonel runner in 22 years to advance in back-to-back years.
Morris ran the second-fastest time in school history at the Graves County Eagle Classic on Oct. 19 with a time of 20:55. Morris has five of the top six times in Lady Colonel cross country history for the 5,000 meters.
Kayla Welch owns the school record, set at the 2022 state meet. The eighth and ninth fastest times in Christian County history were run by WNBA star and former University of Kentucky basketball standout Rhyne Howard, who lived and attended middle school at Christian County before moving to Tennessee.
Woodford County’s Addison Moore won the Class 3A Meet with a time of 18:06.
