
Hopkins County Central’s Zayden Parker had a pretty good night Friday. Okay, that would be understating it just a bit.
Parker ran for 269 yards and five touchdowns as the Storm pulled away to a 46-28 win over the Fulton County Pilots on Senior Night in Mortons Gap.
With the win, the Storm finish the regular season at 4-6 heading into next week’s Class 3A playoff opener on the road at Hart County.
Parker’s big night led a Storm ground attack that generated 385 yards rushing. Isac Earl had 8 carries for 90 yards. Sylas Gunn added 26 yards and a touchdown for Hopkins Central
Sylas Gunn was 4 of 8 passing the ball for 98 yards and a touchdown. Isac Earl caught two of the passes for 74 yards and a touchdown.
The two teams were tied 6-6 at the end of the opening quarter. The Pilots would end up taking a 14-12 lead into the locker room at the half.
Zayden Parker scored four answered touchdowns over the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth quarter to put the Storm up 39-14 and well on their way to the win.
The teams traded scores the rest of the way out as the Storm took the 18 point win.
Hopkins County Central will go on the road next weekend to Hart County to begin the playoffs. The Raiders are unbeaten after winning a close 21-14 game Friday night over Campbellsville.
